Take a leaf from their book

During a leisurely, scrumptious breakfast with my mom on Mother’s Day in the gardens of The Oak Leaf, I commented that it was hard to believe that we were sitting right in the heart of the business hub of Southern Africa – Sandton.  From where we were sitting, if you had a strong arm, you could throw a stone right over the US Embassy and into one of the country’s most upmarket shopping malls, Sandton City.  Granted, it would have to be a very strong arm.  Like an Iron Man strong arm. And a rocket boosted stone.

On arrival at The Oak Leaf, we were greeted with a hug and a kiss by the owner/manager and received the undivided attention of Funwell, our waiter for the morning, who saw to our every need and kept our cups full to the brim of lovely hot coffee as we feasted on the buffet breakfast.  It was a perfect, sunny autumn day with just a little nip in the air. The place was packed with families celebrating that very special person in their lives – mom – and there was lots of laughter and chatter and the kids were having a ball on the jungle gym and jumping castle.

It is definitely a place to remember for those Sunday lunches or afternoon teas that can be enjoyed outdoors.  We will definitely go back.

  1. You have a beautiful mother. Be careful about throwing stones… even if you have the arm of an ironman. Such gestures are so frequently taken amiss.

I'd really love hear what you think
